Answer Your Questions With a Visit Instead Of a Phone Call

My favorite, not so favorite question to answer is, “How much does (Insert procedure here) cost”? Reason being, I feel bad, because it’s never a straight answer. As much as I want to tell everyone right off the bat how much things cost, especially with certain treatments that are more invasive compared to a six month check-up, I cannot know how much without knowing "how much".

Everyone’s teeth are different, just the same as their hair color, shoe size, etc. Granted, we all wish getting Implants were as cheap as getting our hair done, I wouldn’t complain about that at all. So I wanted to take this opportunity to really get down to the detail and reason why any Dental Office can’t tell you upfront how much your treatment might cost.

For starters, let’s go back to the statement where everyone is different. If you were to call and ask, “How much is an Implant?” I’d have a million questions to follow. How many do you need? Are you in pain? When was the last time you saw the Dentist about this? Did a doctor refer you for it? Not to mention, what if you might need Ortho treatment? There are so many factors into making sure you are in perfect health, that the only way to know exactly what to expect is making an appointment to see your Dentist in person. They need to assess what condition you are in right now, to make sure there aren't any other issues that we can’t avoid to make matters worse. Every Implant is different. You might not have enough bone, you might not need to remove your existing tooth in the first place, you might need to remove more than one tooth, you might need a root canal, I think I can stop there. Or at least I hope that gives enough insight to your questions.

True story and perfect example, a friend of mine is obsessed with her oral health. She’s always getting X-Rays, and naturally, nothing wrong. During her last check-up, almost overnight, she developed an infection that gave her a surprise emergency root canal. She would have never known that was a problem unless she was either in pain, or if she didn’t visit and have an X-Ray. Who knows what might be hiding under the surface, waiting for the opportunity to make you have to spend more money than you originally planned on. Which is never what we want. What we want is to prevent any issues from happening before they occur. Which is an additional reason why it is so important to visit the Dentist in person!

Next time you have questions, let’s have you come in and visit with the Doc. They will tell you exactly how everything will be done so you know what to expect, and the Treatment Coordinator will help you exhaust every opportunity to make the bank feel much better. I promise, the visit will be worth it.

With Love and Health,
